Reg. 219/01, otherwise referred to as “The Operating Engineers Act”, is an essential piece of Ontario safety legislation that governs the definition and operator attendance requirements of various types of boiler, refrigeration and compressor plants. More commonly applied in heavy industrial and large institutional settings, the current trend to shift heating plants in commercial & residential buildings to refrigeration-based (heat pump) systems requires that the commercial designer and building owner become familiar with the requirements of this act. This seminar is intended to give designers and building owners an introduction to the act's contents and how its requirements may apply to their projects as they electrify their heating plants. While the act's scope is broader, this seminar will focus only on refrigeration-related aspects.
